The filter catches visible dirt particles such as hair, skin particles and impurities carried into the whirlpool tub from outside. It also filters out partially invisible turbidity, deodorant, body lotions and creams from the pool water.
How often does the filter need to be cleaned?
If the filters are not cleaned regularly, bacteria will settle in the fleece and form a slimy film over time. The filter becomes a collecting basin for dirt, which is distributed in the water by the filter system. Unclean filters also result in higher power consumption, which reduces the service life of the filter pump over time. For this reason, the filters should be cleaned at regular intervals.
There is no rule of thumb as to how often the filter should be cleaned. The intervals vary between two and four weeks, but of course depend on how often the hot tub is used and how the water itself is disinfected. Chlorine solutions, for example, cause the filters to be cleaned at least part of the time during use.
How filter cleaning works
To clean the filter, you must first remove it and then proceed as follows:
- Rinse the filter with a jet of water. The water pressure from a normal garden hose should be sufficient to remove most of the dirt accumulated in the filter. Do not use a brush to clean the filter, as this will press the dirt in instead of removing it.
- Place the filter in a fat-dissolving liquid for at least one hour. Which product you should use for your filter type and whirlpool model can be found in the instructions for use. If this is not the case, we will be happy to help you.
- Rinse the filter again with clear water and reinsert it.
- To simplify the whole process, we recommend our filter cleaning machine.
When do I need to replace the whirlpool filter?
You should replace your Whirlpool filters completely after 6 months at the latest and buy new filters.
