Ozone gas is produced when oxygen is exposed to ultraviolet light. It is the same gas that forms the protective layer around our earth's atmosphere. When ozone gas comes into contact with spa water, it acts as an effective disinfectant, killing most bacteria and viruses in spa water. Ozone also breaks down body oils and aids chlorine disinfection, keeping your water clean and fresh for longer.
Water treatment in a whirlpool with ozone is much more effective than in whirlpools without ozone. Your hot tub requires a lot less disinfectant such as chlorine and bromine, as the ozone also kills the bacteria. However, this does not mean that the disinfectants can be omitted.
We can confirm from customer experience that by using an ozone generator, the whirlpool water should only be replaced every 6-8 months.
Ozone generator
Ozone generators contain either an ultraviolet lamp or an electronic device (corona discharge) that converts oxygen into ozone. The ozone gas is fed into the whirlpool's water system via a hose. The water is mixed with ozone, so to speak, and is distributed throughout the entire whirlpool system. Ozone improves the longevity of your filters and helps to keep them free of bacteria and germs. An ozone generator can also be retrofitted, as it only needs to be integrated into the existing system.
